Russell Stuart, 51, was asleep in his home in Dymchurch, Kent, when he heard his Peugeot 405 being started up in his driveway in the early hours of the morning.
He leapt out of bed and raced out of his front door before opening the passenger door and getting in alongside the would-be thief and said: “Where we going then?”
